What is unique about Catholic education? The answer is that at our school our students are allowed and encouraged to develop their friendship with Our Lord Jesus Christ, in an open manner throughout each school day. This friendship with Christ is built into the structure of the school day and is part of the fabric of the Academy community. As part of their daily schedule, and not only during religion class, our students learn about Scripture, learn Church teachings, and take part in the sacraments and liturgies. Jesus Christ is a foundational and essential part of the spirit of the school. Christianity is the ‘air that our students breathe.’
The Academy exists to help our children to know and to be formed by the mind of Christ and to be shaped and inspired by His ways. We want our children to have eyes of faith, so that they will be able to see so much more, both now and throughout their lives.
"We chose to send our children to St. Gregory the Great Academy for the faith based, academically excellent education offered in the family friendly community that is an extension of our Church. At St. Gregory’s, our Catholic faith and Christian values are fostered and taught throughout the curriculum and incorporated into their daily lives beyond our household. The administration, faculty and staff of St. Gregory’s are genuinely invested in creating a faith based and academically rich learning environment for the students. Through the collaboration of the school, PTA and parents, the students are prepared to realize their individual potential through spiritual growth, Christian service, and age appropriate academics and activities from pre-school through middle school. The St. Gregory the Great Academy administration consistently improves the technology, learning tools and facilities available to the students to stay on the cutting edge and provide a superior education. The teachers and staff know the students by name and take the opportunity to foster individual interests and enhance the learning experience. The students develop a love of God and country as well as a love of learning while they obtain a state of the art education. At St. Gregory the Great Academy our children are grounded in faith and nurtured in an academically excellent environment and for this we are forever grateful." ~ Barbara and David Anderson
"As a parent, decisions for what's best for our children are not always easy. As all parents do, my husband and I want the best for our boys. So when it came time for us to think about their education, we didn't have to think twice, the boys would go to St. Gregory the Great, just as I had 22 years ago. As an alumni of St. Gregory the Great, I knew first hand what foundation and experience my boys would have and this was very important to me. I wanted my boys to experience and learn at an early age the importance of academics, faith, love and family. St. Gregory the Great Academy would provide all of this. With the way the world is constantly changing and how the negative effects of society become such powerful influences to our children, it is so very important for our children to learn that there is a higher power and that God is love. So to us, a positive foundation rich with faith and love was more important than ever. St. Gregory the Great Academy is a community and is "home" to my family." ~ Michelle Smith, parent and Alumnae
St. Gregory the Great Academy - "Where you can be proud to be YOU!" - No matter your age, your race, your interests; St. Gregory the Great Academy embraces everyone! When I think about how unhappy I was when I was attending my local public school; trying to always be who others thought I should be, dress how others thought I should dress or be interested in things that didn't interest me - I feel very blessed my parents decided to transfer me. From day one everyone was so kind, helpful and friendly. As a 7th grade student coming into a new school, I was a little nervous, but everyone made me feel like I had been a part of the St. Gregory family for years. I was accepted into the pre-algebra class (I had never been challenged like that before in my other school), I was asked to help with various projects outside the classroom and when it came to raising money for a cause dear to my heart, the fundraising idea was embraced and supported by the entire school. Being a part of the St. Gregory the Great community allows me to take pride in the person God intended me to be. Proud to be "ME" ! ~ Mackenzie Van Den Bogart, 8th Grade
In my experiences as a student, St. Gregory the Great School - and now Academy - has always been a vibrant learning community that facilitates an atmosphere of academic excellence within the context of a Catholic school environment. Staffed with caring and knowledgeable teachers and administrators, St. Gregory’s is a faith-oriented, educationally excellent institution whose purpose, in my opinion, has been to prepare students to take on the challenges of the modern world while firmly rooted in morality and the teachings of Christ. I am proud to call St. Gregory the Great Academy and Parish my home, and I am pleased to see the positive changes that are taking place there. ~ Joseph Kale, 8th Grade
"When my parents told me I would be going to St. Gregory the Great, I didn't have much of an opinion on their decision. I simply said "OK" and went along with it. Looking back on it now, however, going to St. Gregory's was a truly pivotal event in my life. From day one I interacted with teachers and staff who really cared about me and who consistently sought to create a challenging yet satisfying academic environment. The faculty took the time to get to know each of us individually, and went out of their way to help us truly understand what we were being taught. Equally important, everyone at St. Gregory's - whether administration, faculty or staff - did more than simply talk about Christian values and our Catholic faith. They lived it, and we, as students, had the chance to both learn about our faith, but, perhaps even more importantly, see it in action and experience it directly. As I prepare to graduate college this year and become a teacher myself, I can only look back on my time at St. Gregory's and say, without exaggeration, that it shaped my life. I could not have asked for, or found, a better environment to learn, to prepare for the future and to understand the true meaning of being a Christian." ~ Brian Siemann, Class of '04
