Some schools have elected to forgo summer assignments “to reward” or “to relieve” students after a rough school year. While we can certainly validate the need to unwind from a very long school year, the opposite of rewarding is “to punish” and the opposite of relieving is “to stress.” Since the purpose of summer assignments has never been to punish or to stress, eliminating summer assignments in the name of “rewarding” or “relieving” is misguided. Summer assignments are designed to maintain skills during the summer months, because, as Einstein stated, “you must keep moving.” NOTE: Students entering Grades 1-8 MUST access Google Classrooms using their SGGA GSuite logins. If your child cannot remember his or her login information, please contact the Main Office.
