The closer August comes to ending, the closer the first day of school is. When I was young, I really enjoyed getting ready for school. There was always something about the smell of a new box of crayons and organizing my new notebooks and folders that was very exciting to me. In those pre-WalMart, pre-Target, and pre-Staples days, we made a family trip to Cost Cutters on Whitehorse Avenue to procure those all important supplies. That trip meant summer had precious few weeks remaining.
I have never stopped getting excited about a new school year. When I was a teacher I would start setting up my classroom in July. As a principal, the enitre summer is spent preparing for a new school year. I love it! As summer begins to wind down this year, the academy is starting to look very nice.
