Saint Gregory the Great Basketball Teams Win Three Championship CYO Titles
Saint Gregory the Great Parish Junior Varsity Girls, Junior Varsity Boys and Freshman Boys Catholic Youth Organization Basketball Teams wrapped up their seasons with undefeated records as well as Mercer County League Championship trophies in February.
The JV Girls squad (pictured below), coached by Bruce Novozinsky and Debra Hart, went on to win the Diocese of Trenton Championship concluding their season with a record of 23-0.

Additionally, Nicole Rende (pictured below) was named Most Valuable Player for the Girls JV division. She also captured MVP trophies after the JV Girls championship game and the JV Girls All-Star game. Nicole is a fifth-grade student at Saint Gregory the Great Academy.
The JV Boys squad, coached by Cyrus Johnson also remained undefeated this season with a record of 18-0. The JV teams include fifth and sixth grade students from the parish of Saint Gregory’s. Rounding out the first place tallies, the Freshman Boys team, coached by Bo Burrows, included all fourth grade students and earned a perfect record reaching 17-0 for the season.
Overall, the parish supports ten CYO teams, including two high school division teams as well as an intramural basketball program for grades three to eight that teaches fundamental skills with weekly games among parish teams. Over 175 youngsters participate in the basketball programs.
